The spectacular Playa de San Juan lies north of Alicante between the city and El Campello. It spans almost 7 kilometers and is a Blue Flag awarded beach of fine sand. It has an average width of 85m so there is plenty of room for its many beachgoers, even in high season. Although physically one beach the area of the beach towards El Campello (about 3 kilometers) is also known as Playa Muchavista. The promenade is flanked mainly by residential areas but as the beach nears the two towns there are more bars and restaurants. There is a golf course 5 minutes from the beach, Alicante Golf , for those looking for a change of pace.
The beach can be reached by car, bus, or by trenet, the tram that winds around the coast from Alicante. The facilities at the beach include a park for children, handicap friendly, rental of beach umbrellas, hammocks and pedal boats, a bus station, red cross, lifeguards, parking, showers and public telephones.
